Symptoms

When you attempt to install Image Composer (included with Microsoft FrontPage 98), you may receive the following error message:
PISERVER.DLL was unable to register itself in the system registry.
When you click OK, you may receive another message stating that Image Composer is not installed.

Cause

This behavior can occur if the registry has become damaged. The Piserver.dll file is needed only to open .mix files, which are created by Microsoft PictureIt!

All of the necessary program files are loaded, but because Setup stops before completion, the Image Composer program group and icons are not created, and Image Composer is not yet set up as the default editor for .gif and .jpg files in FrontPage.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1.Start FrontPage.
2.On the Tools menu, click Options.
3.Click the Configure Editors tab.
4.Click gif, and then click Modify.
5.In the Editor name box, type Image Composer.
6.Click Browse, and then browse to find imgcomp.exe.
7.Click OK.
8.Under Type, click jpeg, and then click Modify.
9.Repeat steps 5 through 7.
You are now able to run Image Composer directly from FrontPage.

3.Select Imgcomp.exe.
4.Click the right mouse button and drag the Imgcomp.exe file to the Desktop folder.
5.Release the mouse button, and then click Create Shortcut(s) Here on the shortcut menu.
