FP2000/2002: FrontPage Stops Responding When Started

Symptoms

When you attempt to start FrontPage, the program's splash screen appears and then FrontPage stops responding (hangs) before it is successfully started.

When you attempt to start another program while FrontPage is in this state, you receive a message that the computer is dangerously low on resources.

Cause

This behavior can occur if the preference file Cmdui.prf is corrupted.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1.Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
2.In the Named box, type cmdui.prf.
3.In the Look in box, select the drive on which FrontPage is installed, and then click Find Now.
4.When the file is found, right-click the file name in the Name column, and then click Delete on the shortcut menu.NOTE: A new copy of Cmdui.prf is created the next time that FrontPage is started.
