FIX: Errors may occur when you use the BizTalk Pipeline Component for Host Data Conversion to convert unsigned string numeric data types in a Host Integration Server 2010 environment

Symptoms

When you use the BizTalk Pipeline Component for Host Data Conversion to convert a host file that contains unsigned string numeric data types in a Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 environment, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
HISMPCB0015 In BasePrimitiveConverter an invalid zoned decimal value was encountered in parameter name_of_method.

For example, this problem may occur when you configure the BizTalk Pipeline Component for Host Data Conversion to use a HostCodePage setting other than IBM EBCDIC (US-Canada).

Cause

This problem occurs because the BizTalk Pipeline Component for Host Data Conversion uses the IBM EBCDIC (US-Canada) code page incorrectly when it converts unsigned string numeric data types.

Hotfix information

The hotfix that resolves this issue is included in cumulative update package 3 for Host Integration Server 2010.

The following update added additional code page support to the BizTalk Pipeline Component for Host Data Conversion:
2428615  An update is available for the BizTalk Pipeline Component for Host Data Conversion that adds support for additional configuration properties, an XML assembler and disassembler, and new data types
As noted in the referenced Knowledge Base article, the BizTalk Pipeline Component converted numeric host data types by using host code page 37 (EBCDIC - U.S./Canada) even if another code page was specified even with this previous update applied.

The hotfix that is described in this article corrects the code page conversion problem that occurs when you use unsigned numeric string data types.
