FP2000: Error Message When You Submit a Form

Symptoms

When you submit a Microsoft FrontPage 2000 form, you may receive the following error message:
HTTP Error 405
405 Method Not Allowed

The method specified in the Request Line is not allowed for the resource identified by the request. Please ensure that you have the proper MIME type set up for the resource you are requesting.

Please contact the server's administrator if this problem persists.

Cause

This behavior may occur when all of the following conditions are true:
Your are using using the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions.
You create a virtual server and then create a virtual directory under the default web.
You point the virtual directory to the virtual server.
When you submit the form, you browse to the virtual directory.
You create the form on the virtual server, not the virtual directory.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, browse to the same server that the form was created on: You must author and browse in the same context.
