FP2000: Cannot Set FrontPage As HTML Editor in Internet Explorer

Symptoms

When you attempt to set Microsoft FrontPage as your Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) editor in Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0, Microsoft FrontPage Editor is not one of the options in the HTML editor box.

Cause

This behavior occurs because the HTML file is not associated with FrontPage.

Resolution

NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
  2. On the View menu, click Options.
  3. In the Options dialog box, click the File Types tab.
  4. In the Registered file types list, click to select HTML Application, and then click the Edit button.
  5. In the Edit File Type dialog box, verify that Open is in the Action box, and then click the Edit button.
  6. In the Editing action for type: HTML Application dialog box, click the Browse button to select frontpg.exe, and then click OK.
  7. Click OK in the Edit File Type dialog box.
  8. Click OK in the Options dialog box.
