Updates for a meeting request are sent to all attendees directly in an Exchange Server 2010 environment

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

You use Microsoft Outlook 2010 to send a nonrecurring meeting request that has a reminder to attendees in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 environment.
You access the mailbox by using an Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) device and then change the meeting request. You do not change the properties of the meeting such as the date, message body, location, subject, and so on. For example, you change the reminder frequency of the meeting request. (The reminder frequency is not considered a property of a meeting request.)
You synchronize the EAS device that accesses the mailbox in Exchange Server 2010.
You use Outlook 2010 to add or to delete attendees for the meeting and then click Send Update.

In this scenario, the updates are sent to all attendees directly. However, you expect that the following message will be displayed:

You have made changes to the list of attendees. Choose one of the following:

Send updates only to added or deleted attendees.
Send updates to all attendees.

Cause

This issue occurs because Exchange Server 2010 incorrectly deals with the null value of certain recurring properties of a meeting request. The null value of these properties is set by EAS. This causes the PidLidChangeHighlight property of meeting requests to be set incorrectly. Therefore, the expected message is not displayed.
