The XpsDocument class in WPF version 4 creates an incorrect PNG image in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have an application that uses the XpsDocument class in Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) version 4 on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • You use this application to convert an XML Paper Specification (XPS) file to a Portable Network Graphics (PNG) image.
  • The XPS file contains Korean characters.
In this scenario, the application creates an incorrect PNG image. For example, the Korean characters in the image are corrupted.

Cause

This issue occurs because the DirectWrite API that is used in WPF 4 cannot find the font bitmaps that are embedded in the XPS file.
