The CMAK profile icon appears only the first time that you connect to an intranet in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Assume that you create a dial-up connection to an intranet by using a Connection Manager Administration Kit (CMAK) profile on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. However, the next time that you try to create a dial-up connection by using the CMAK profile, the CMAK profile icon does not appear. Therefore, you cannot create a dial-up connection to the intranet.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Remote Access Phonebook file (Rasphone.pbk) is changed unexpectedly. When there are multiple device entries in Rasphone.pbk, Rasphone.pbk is updated with an incorrect device type during the dial-up connection logon process.
