FIX: An error may occur when a GPRS modem tries to create an IP interface in Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R3-based device.
  • The device includes a GPRS modem.
  • You use the GPRS modem to establish a connection.

In this scenario, a "Data Abort" exception may occur in Explorer.exe when the GPRS modem tries to create an IP interface.

Cause

The issue occurs because a local variable in the IPNAT module (Ipnat.lib) is not initialized. The local variable may contain a very large random value that is used by the operating system as the buffer length during a memory-allocation operation.
