System Message 6938 on the Journal Transactions (01.010.00) screen in Microsoft Dynamics SL

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in General Ledger in Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011:

You notice that when you run the Revenue Recognition (PA.REV.00) process and then you try to open the resulting general ledger batch on the Journal Transactions (01.010.00) screen, you receive the following error message:

System Message 6938 - "Attempting to set text control to an invalid value. Value violates the Mask length."

Workaround

To work around this problem, increase the mask length in the Number field on the Journal Transactions (01.010.00) screen. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open the Journal Transactions (01.010.00) screen in Customization mode.
  2. Right-click the Number field, and then select Properties.
  3. Increase the Mask field value to 10 characters.
  4. Close the Properties window and Save the customization.
