Resolution

Use a shorter Groupname

if not possible, use an environment variable instead. This variable can also be set using Group Policy Preferences

Computer Configuration => Preferences => Windows Settings => Environment

e.g. define an Environment variable MyGroupName and set as value the long name which can't be entered in the Local User and Groups edit field.

In the Local User and Groups Edit field, this environment variable then can be referenced using %MyGroupName% and will be replaced during Group policy processing.
