Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1 (SP1):
  • You apply hotfix 977685.
    For more information about hotfix 977685, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    977685 Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 incorrectly updates the value in the "Quantity to return" field when you use the "Find sales order" function in return orders to create a partial return for a sales order
  • You create a sales order that has multiple invoices.
  • You create a partial return for the sales order by use the Find sales order function.
  • You post a credit note for the generated Return order type sales order.
  • You create partial return orders for the sales order.
In this situation, the system only verifies the returned quantity against the whole order quantity. Therefore, you can return a quantity that is more than the quantity in the corresponding invoice unexpectedly.

Validation of the application hotfix installation

To validate the installation of the application hotfix, open the SysHotfixManifest class in the Application Object Tree (AOT). Then, verify that there is a method whose name includes the Knowledge Base (KB) article number of the installed hotfix. Additionally, you can cross-check the affected objects by comparing the KBXXXXXX.txt file against the objects in the AOT. By doing this, you can make sure that the objects are changed correctly in the SYP layer or in the GLP layer.
