Resolution

In most cases, these errors are logged in the Sync Issues folder when the items no longer exist in the Exchange mailbox. In these cases, the error can be safely ignored. Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2010 both contain an improvement as of the April 2014 hotfix to prevent these errors from being saved in the Sync Issues folder in this scenario. These errors are still saved in the Sync Issues folder when an actual error condition occurs. For detailed information, see the "More Information" section.

More Information

In rare cases, this warning may be logged because the Exchange Server cannot delete an item. This problem continually creates a warning message in the Sync Issues folder. In these rare cases, you may be able to connect to an Exchange Server mailbox by using Microsoft Outlook Web App (OWA) to determine whether the item remains in the mailbox.

Contact Microsoft Support if you need help in the following situations:
  • You cannot delete the item by using OWA.
  • You cannot delete the item by using Outlook when you are connected to an Exchange Server mailbox, and the Exchange account is configured in Online mode.
