The REAgentC command does not disable WinRE on a Windows 7-based or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer that has spanned volumes

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Assume that you run the REAgentC command together with the /disable option to disable Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. However, the command fails if spanned volumes are configured in Windows. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
REAGENTC.EXE: Operation failed: 2
The system cannot find the file specified

Cause

This issue occurs because of an error in the Reagent.dll module. When spanned volumes are configured in Windows, the REAgentC command cannot generate the correct path of the WinRE file (Winre.wim). In this situation, the REAgentC command uses the default path of the WinRE file (c:\Winre.wim). Therefore, the REAgentC command cannot find the specified WinRE file, and the disable operation fails.
