Consider the following scenario:
Notes
- You insert a PCI Express (PCI-E) switch into a PCI-E slot on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
- You insert a PCI-E solid-state drive into a slot on the switch.
- You hot-swap the drive between different slots on the switch.
Notes
- If you remove the drive from a slot, and then reinsert the drive into the same slot, both the controller and the drive are displayed in Device Manager.
- If you insert a new drive into any of the slots on the switch, it is displayed in Device Manager correctly.
- If you restart the computer, the drive is displayed in Device Manager correctly.
- This issue also occurs on PCI-E devices that have a unique serial number and that use line-based interrupts.
