FIX: Compile errors when the flashmddcommon.h file is included in a .c file for a Windows Embedded Compact 7 image

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You develop a Windows Embedded Compact 7 image that includes the Flash model device driver (MDD) layer catalog item.
  • The flashmddcommon.h file is included in a .c file in the following directory:
    \public\common\oak\inc
In this scenario, when you compile the project that contains the .c file, you receive error messages that resemble the following:
BUILD: [01:0000000068:ERRORE] os_design_drive_directory\public\common\oak\inc\flashmddcommon.h(158) : error C2057: expected constant expression


BUILD: [01:0000000069:ERRORE] os_design_drive_directory\public\common\oak\inc\flashmddcommon.h(161) : error C2229: struct '__FLASH_PARTITION_CREATE_INFO' has an illegal zero-sized array


BUILD: [01:0000000070:ERRORE] os_design_drive_directory\public\common\oak\inc\flashmddcommon.h(190) : error C2059: syntax error : 'type'

Resolution

Software update information

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as "Windows Embedded Compact 7 Monthly Update October 2011." In the "File information" section, the package file name contains the processor type.

Prerequisites

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product are also installed.

Restart requirement

After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:
  • On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.
  • On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.

Update replacement information

This update does not replace any other updates.
