INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Assume that you create a Microsoft Word 2010 document that contains many pages (for example, 8,000 pages). You save the document as a .pdf or.xps document. In this situation, the number of GDI objects for the Winword.exe process in Windows Task Manager increases to 9,999. Additionally, you may encounter the following issues:
    • If the save process fails, you receive the following error message:
      • Word has encountered a problem.
    • After you close the previous error message, you receive the following error message:
      • There is a problem saving the file. Usually this is because the disk or floppy disk is too small for the file or is full, RAM memory is low, or there is a permission problem with the drive the file is being saved to.
    • If the save process succeeds, you experience one of the following issues:
      • You receive the following error message:
Not enough memory or disk space. Word cannot display the selected font.
      • You experience screen redraw issues. For example, some ribbon tabs are not displayed, some dialog boxes are empty, some windows are not drawn, or some windows are partly redrawn and overlap one another.
      • Word 2010 stops responding.
      • Word 2010 crashes.

  • When you try to apply a Digital Rights Management (DRM) template to restrict permission to an Office 2010 file in an Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS) environment, you receive the following error message:
An unexpected error has occurred while trying to restrict permission to your document. Contact your administrator for assistance.
This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:
    • You apply hotfix 2584066 on the computer.
    • The text ":443" appears in the URL of the service connection point (SCP) for AD RMS.

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • The default My Documents folder is not located on the same drive as where Windows is installed. For example, if Windows is installed on drive C, the default My Documents folder would not be located on drive C.
    • You open an Excel workbook from an email message attachment in Outlook 2010.
    • You use Excel 2010 to open a second Excel workbook. This workbook is located on the same drive as where Windows is installed (in this example, this workbook is located on drive C).
In this scenario, the second Excel workbook is opened in Protected View. Additionally, you receive the following warning message:
This file originated from an Internet location and might be unsafe. Click for more details.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You create a site content type in a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010 site.
    • You add a Title column or a Subject column to the site content type from an existing site column, and both are set as required columns.
    • You apply the site content type to a document library.
    • You open a certain document in the document library by using Word 2010, PowerPoint 2010, or Excel 2010.
In this scenario, the Title field or the Subject field in the Document Information Panel is not displayed as a required field that should be tagged with a red asterisk (*).
