Symptoms

In Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010, the Transaction Integrator Windows Initiated Processing (WIP) runtime does not include the same LU 6.2 error information in event messages as in earlier versions of Host Integration Server.

The following is an example of Event 102 that has subcode 1436. Transaction Integrator logs this event in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 when an Abend error occurs in IBM CICS:

Description:
(102) COM Transaction Integrator reported the following exception to the client:

Component: TI Component
Method: Method Name

Exception description:
(1436) The transaction program TP Name abended. Host LU is Remote APPC LU. Local LU is Local APPC LU. SNA error log data(FMH7): IBM Error CodeTimeRemote APPC LU Transaction Transaction Name failed with abend Abend Code. Updates to local recoverable resources backed out.
The following is an example of the error message the Transaction Integrator logs in Host Integration Server 2010 when the same error occurs:
HISETBG0001 Application Integrator has intercepted an exception in method Method Name. Following is the exception description: HISMSNA0018 The SNATransport received a response indicating a remote user application program Abend when processing method Method Name, LUName Remote APPC LU, TransactionId Transaction ID."

Cause

The Transaction Integrator WIP runtime was rewritten to use managed code and the CPI-C (Common Programming Interface for Communications) API. The redesign of the WIP runtime resulted in the loss of some detail in error messages when you use LU 6.2 as the communication method with IBM host systems.

Resolution

Host Integration Server 2010

The hotfix that resolves this issue is included in cumulative update package 2 for Host Integration Server 2010.

After you apply the update, Transaction Integrator logs an event message that resembles the following when a CICS Abend occurs during transaction processing:
