After you install the hotfix package, use one of the following procedures to enable the hotfix, as appropriate for your system.
For computers that are running Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, or Windows XP:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\Options - On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
- Type DisableUserRecordUpdateOnOpen, and then press ENTER.
- In the Details pane, right-click DisableUserRecordUpdateOnOpen, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
For computers that are running Windows 7 with BranchCache enabled:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\Options - On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
- Type VistaOfflineFilesCompatMode, and then press ENTER.
- In the Details pane, right-click VistaOfflineFilesCompatMode, and then click Modify.
- In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
