INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • When you open a document that contains non-ASCII text in comments in Word 2010, Word freezes.
  • Assume that you start Word 2010 for the first time, and then Word prompts you to enter a user name. In this situation, you cannot access the buttons and text labels in the dialog box by using the Accessibility tools.
  • When you preview a Word 2010 document that has content controls and macros in Windows Explorer, Word crashes.
  • Assume that you have a Word 2010 document that contains nested and grouped content controls. When you enable a macro to apply document protection by using VBA code, the operation fails, and you receive the following error message:
Run-time error '4605': The Protect method or property is not available because the current selection is locked for format changes.
Note You can apply document protection to the document manually by using the User Interface.
  • Assume that you have at least two open Word 2010 documents. Content inside a table is selected in each document. In this situation, when you browse through the documents, Word crashes.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You open a document that contains both protected and editable sections in Word 2010.
    • You delete several characters in a row from an editable section by pressing and holding the Backspace key.
    • You repeat this action by using the Repeat (CTRL+Y) command.
In this scenario, the section break and characters from the protected section are removed, and the protected section becomes editable.
