IMAPI2 doesn't release file handles when it writes in multisession mode to DVD-RW media.

Symptoms

When you burn data in multisession mode to a DVD-RW media using IMAPIv2, the original files that are getting burned cannot be modified even though the writing process has been completed and all IMAPIv2 objects have been released.

Cause

This behavior is caused by a handle leak inside IMAPIv2 when handling multisession writing for a DVD-RW media.

Resolution

There is no workaround available for this issue.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
