MS iSCSI truncates the iSCSI initiator name to 221 characters when logging in to a target

Summary

The iSCSI specification (RFC 3720) specifies that initiator names may be up to 223 characters in length. All versions of MS iSCSI Initiator as of Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 have a known issue which causes the initiator name to be truncated to 221 characters when it is sent to the target.

In current versions of the Microsoft initiator, you must use initiator names which are 221 characters or less.
