You cannot use Event Viewer to create more than 1024 active event providers in Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7

On a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7, you cannot use Event Viewer to create more than 1024 active event providers. Additionally, the following event is logged in the System log:

Description:
The Subscription <name> could not be activated on machine due to an error. Error Code is 14. Subscription will remain inactive on this target until subscription is resubmitted / reset.

This issue occurs because the maximum number of event�providers per process is limited to 1024.

After the following hotfix is applied, the maximum number of event�providers per process is changed to 2048.
