Symptoms

On a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, you may receive the following Stop error message:
STOP: 0x0000007E (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff80001999ba8, 0xfffff88001fe6858, 0xfffff88001fe60b0)
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Notes
  • This issue occurs when a connection is reset and the server still accepts and calls the bind function.
  • Typically, this issue occurs if the Transport Driver Interface (TDI) filter is installed on the computer.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
