32-Bit CPL's are not found when searching in the Start Menu

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario

- You have a 64-bit Operating System installed

- You search for a 32-bit Control Panel Applet (CPL) (located in the Control Panel) from the Start Menu

In this scenario, the 32-bit CPL is not found although it contains the string you searched for.

Cause

This is by design. The product does not enumerate 32-bit CPL's to be found from the Start Menu.

Resolution

The Control Panel applet in question should still be available from within Control Panel. Manufacturers should be encouraged to create 64-bit CPL's for inclusion in 64-bit versions of the operating system.
