XL2000: Multiple Euro Icons or "Subscript out of Range" Error When You Start Excel

Symptoms

When you start Microsoft Excel, you may see one of the following symptoms:

  • You see more than one Euro formatting button on the Formatting toolbar. -or-

  • You receive the following Microsoft Visual Basic error message:
    Run-time error '9':
    Subscript out of range

Cause

This behavior occurs when you do the following:
  • You start Excel, click Add-ins on the Tools menu, click Euro Currency Tools, and click OK to install the Euro Currency Tools add-in.

    -and-
  • You do one of the following:

    • You customize the Formatting toolbar and move the euro formatting button to a new location.

      -or-
    • You customize the Formatting toolbar so that it has fewer than 10 buttons.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).
