FIX: "CSC : error CS1577: Assembly generation failed" error message when you build a Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 project

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You build a project by using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
  • The project references another project.
  • Each project is signed with a different strong name by using its own .snk file.

In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
CSC : error CS1577: Assembly generation failed -- Referenced assembly 'assembly_name' does not have a strong name

Resolution
