You cannot start a Remote Desktop Services connection to an instance of Windows MultiPoint Server 2011

Symptoms

After either of the following actions occur, you may be unable to start a Remote Desktop Services (RDS) connection to the server:
  • You restart an instance of Windows MultiPoint Server 2011.
  • The IP address of the server changes while the server is running.

Cause

This issue occurs because the RDS listeners do not monitor IP address changes. This can prevent you from connecting to the server after the IP address has changed.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, install the update rollup that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
