Symptoms

When you view date information for a file that is stored on a UNIX-based FTP server, the year information may appear as one year older than it should. You might notice this while using a command-line FTP client program.

Cause

This problem can occur if you view date information for a file with a modified date of today. Because the year information is not sent to the client, Internet Explorer must select a year to display. If the modified date of the file is the same as today, Internet Explorer interprets the year to be last year.

Resolution

To work around this problem, change the date of the client computer forward by 1 day to view the correct year in the browser, and then change the date back to the correct date.
