Multicast forwarding is enabled when you restart RRAS in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

To resolve this issue, install this hotfix and add the registry entry that is described in the "Registry information" section.

Note When multicast forwarding is disabled, certain Windows network components that depend on multicast forwarding may stop working. Affected components include, but are not limited to the following: 

• Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP)
• Router Discovery
• Peer Name Resolution Protocol (PNRP)
• Peer-to-Peer (P2P)
• DHCP for IPv6
• BranchCache

After you install this hotfix, add the DisableMulticastForwarding registry entry under the following registry subkey: To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, type regedit in the Search programs and files box, and then press Enter. 
   If you are prompted for an administrator password, type the password. If you are prompted for confirmation, provide confirmation.
2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\RemoteAccess\Parameters\Ip
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type DisableMulticastForwarding, and then press Enter. 
5. Right-click DisableMulticastForwarding, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.
7. Exit Registry Editor.

Note By default, the value of the DisableMulticastForwarding registry entry is set to 0. To prevent RRAS from enabling multicast forwarding during the startup process if multicast forwarding is disabled in the global settings, set the value of the registry entry to 1.

You must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
