Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) folder on a web server that is not a Microsoft IIS web server.
  • You copy or create some files in the WebDAV folder.
  • You map a drive to the WebDAV folder on a computer that is running Windows 7.
In this scenario, you do not see the see the files under the WebDAV folder.

Cause

The Windows 7 WebDAV client request a list of properties as a PROPFIND request on the target WebDAV share. The Webserver sends the "200 OK" response for the properties that are supported by WebDAV and the "404 not found" response for the properties that are not supported by WebDAV. However, the Windows 7 client does not accept the "404 not found" response. Therefore, the files under the WebDAV folder cannot be listed on the client.
