Consider the following scenario:
For example, an application may use the VPN session to retrieve remote resources in the domain. In this example, the application crashes when it is retrieving the resources.
Note You may also notice this issue in the following scenario:
- You have an Active Directory domain environment.
- You have a Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installation image or a Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installation image.
- You try to deploy the installation image to a client computer.
- A VPN session is established on the computer before the deployment is completed and the computer restarts.

- You open Network Connections under Network and Internet in Control Panel.
