INTRODUCTION

Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Office 2010. This update provides the latest fixes for the 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Office 2010.

Issue that this update fixes

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install Microsoft Office 2010 and then Office 2013.
  • You use Office 2013 as the default program for Office files.
  • You install an update for Office 2010 from Windows Update.
  • You double-click an Office file.
In this scenario, the file is opened in Office 2010 instead of Office 2013.

Cause

This issue occurs because the update for Office 2010 sets Office 2010 as the default program for Office files. Therefore, all Office files are associated with Office 2010.
