INTRODUCTION

Issue that this hotfix package fixes

Consider the following scenario:
  • You open a workbook in read-only mode from a Microsoft SharePoint site in Microsoft Excel 2010.
  • The workbook contains connections that are configured to be updated when users open the workbook.
  • The Server Read-Only text and Edit Workbook button are not displayed in the yellow message bar in Excel 2010
  • You edit and then try to save the workbook.
In this situation, you receive an error message that states that the file is read-only and must be saved to another location.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problems that are described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problems described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
