"0x0000007E" or "0x0000000A" Stop error occurs when you play and at the same time record TV content on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

Symptoms

When you play and at the same time record TV content on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, the operating system may crash during the recording process. Additionally, you receive one of the following Stop error messages. 

Error message 1
STOP: 0x0000007E ( parameter1 , parameter2 , parameter3 , parameter4 )
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Error message 2
STOP: 0x0000000A ( parameter1 , parameter2 , parameter3 , parameter4 )
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Notes
  • The "0x0000007E" Stop error occurs only on computers that are running a 64-bit version of Windows.
  • The "0x0000000A" Stop error occurs only on computers that are running a 32-bit version of Windows.
  • The parameters in the Stop error messages vary, depending on the configuration of the computer.
  • Not all "0x0000007E" and "0x0000000A" Stop error messages are caused by this problem.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
