An update is available that increases the maximum number of allowed Edge Servers in an Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Edge Server array


Symptoms

This article describes an improvement in Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2. By default, only 10 Edge Servers are allowed in an Edge Server array in Office Communications Server 2007 R2. The number of incoming connections that an Edge Server can accept from a single federated partner is 80. 

Note Each Edge Server can have up to 8 outgoing connections.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:

More Information

After you apply this update, the maximum number of Edge Servers in an Edge Server array increases to 256. Therefore, the number of incoming connections that an Edge Server can accept from a single federated partner is 2048.
