INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You perform a search in the online archive mailbox in Microsoft Outlook 2010 that is in cache mode.
    • You try to open an item in the search results.
    In this scenario, you cannot open the item. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

    Cannot open this item.

    Note The item also does not display in the Reading Pane if the Reading Pane is enabled.
  • This hotfix resolves the following issues in the Office 365 environment:

    • This hotfix handles a scenario in an Office 365 environment where an Exchange server is configured to use MSO IDCRL as the authentication mechanism, and then switches to use Basic authentication as the authentication mechanism.
    • This hotfix updates the default value of the AllowNegoCapabilityHeader registry key. Therefore, the header is not sent to the Exchange server.
    • This hotfix resolves the issue where Outlook 2010 stops responding when free/busy information is retrieved in an Office 365 environment.
    • This hotfix resolves the issue where Outlook 2010 stops responding when you send an email message in an Office 365 environment.
    • This hotfix adds log information for WinHTTP requests.
    • This hotfix resolves the issue that Outlook 2010 stops responding when a profile is created in an Office 365 environment.
    • This hotfix turns on a ring buffer to capture ETW RPC log information.
    • This hotfix resolves an issue where Outlook 2010 stops responding when a reminder dialog box is used in an Office 365 environment.

  • Assume that a mailbox is moved to a Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) environment. However, Outlook does not generate the user’s User Principal (UPN) as the user’s Outlook logon user name.
  • Assume that your mailbox is moved to a BPOS environment. When you open an exception of a recurring meeting in Outlook 2010, duplicate attendees display in the To field in the meeting inspector.
  • Outlook 2010 stops responding when you log on to it by using an account that associates with the online archive mailbox.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
