The following hotfix is available to resolve this issue. The following hotfix is not present in either the Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM or Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installation media. To install Windows and the hotfix successfully, one of the following options must be followed because the issue occurs during setup.
Option 1
- Reduce the total number of active logical processors to 64 or less. To do this, follow the instructions from your hardware manufacturer to disable some logical processors on the computer.
- Install Windows.
- Install the following hotfix.
- Re-enable the logical processors that were disabled in step 1. To do this, follow the instructions from your hardware manufacturer.
Option 2
- You can use the Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) to integrate the following hotfix into the installation image that is used to deploy Windows on the computer.
