ACC2000: Unsigned Calendar Control Mscal.ocx Causes Security Warning

When you open a data access page created with the original version of Microsoft Access 2000 that contains the Calendar control, you may see one of the following warnings: -or-

The version of the Calendar control (Mscal.ocx) in Microsoft Access 2000 is unsigned.

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

To obtain SR-1/SR-1a, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: To temporarily work around this problem, you can download the signed version of the file from the following location: Replace any existing unsigned copies of the file with the newly downloaded file.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Access 2000. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1/SR-1a.

In order to determine whether the copy of Mscal.ocx on your system is signed, follow these steps:

1. On the Start menu, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
2. In the Named box, type mscal.ocx.
3. Click Find Now.
4. In the displayed list of files found, right-click on any copy of Mscal.ocx, and then click Properties. If it is a signed version of the file, there are three tabs displayed: General, Version, and Digital Signatures. An unsigned file does not display the third tab, Digital Signatures.

NOTE: If you find more than one file, check the properties of each one.
