Changes to the Install.ins File Are Not Retained on Client Computers

Symptoms

When you use Profile Manager to change settings in the Install.ins file, the settings may not be retained on the client computers.

Cause

This issue can occur on client computers if the browser does not have a default home page. When you view the current default home page, about:blank may be displayed in the Address box. This issue occurs if the home page is configured to use this setting when Microsoft Internet Explorer is built in the Internet Explorer Customization Wizard.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, start Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu, and then type a valid default home page in the Address box on the General tab.

Workaround

To work around this issue, start Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu, and then type http://blank in the Address box on the General tab.
