You cannot open the properties of any object by using ADSI Edit after you mount a restored Active Directory database file by using the Active Directory database mounting tool in a Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory domain environment

After you mount a restored�Active Directory database file (Ntds.dit) by using the Active Directory database mounting tool (Dsamain.exe) in a Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory domain environment, you cannot open the properties of any object by using the Active Directory Service Interfaces Editor,�also known as ADSI Edit (Adsiedit.msc). Additionally, you receive the following error message:

This issue occurs because the msDS-LocalEffectiveRecycleTime attribute is not initialized if the database is read-only.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article.
