FIX: Error message when you try to start a sequenced Visual Studio 2010 application package on an Application Virtualization client: "Invalid license data. Reinstall is required"

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You sequence Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1) by using Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) 4.6 Service Pack 1 (SP1). 
  • You have a valid volume license for Visual Studio 2010.
  • You try to start the sequenced Visual Studio 2010 application package on the Application Virtualization client.
In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
Invalid license data. Reinstall is required.
Then, Visual Studio 2010 exits.

Resolution

To sequence Visual Studio 2010 SP1 by using App-V 4.6 SP1, you must install the following hotfix. Then, you must follow the prescriptive guidance (recipe) that is described in the App-V Sequencing Recipe Forum on the following Microsoft Application Virtualization TechCenter website:
