Description for "Turn On ActiveX filtering" Group Policy Setting contains incorrect text


Symptoms


Administrators can deploy ActiveX Filtering for their organizations by setting a group policy.

GPO Location: Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Internet Explorer 

The description for Turn on ActiveX Filtering group policy setting states that if you disable this policy setting or do not configure it, ActiveX Filtering will not be enabled by default for the user. And the user can turn ActiveX Filtering on or off. 

However, if you disable this policy setting, the user interface for this feature under Tools | Safety | Activex Filtering is disabled.

Cause

This is an error in the documentation for the Turn on ActiveX Filtering group policy setting. The behavior when you disable this setting is by design.

Resolution

If you do not configure this option, the user interface for this feature under Tools | Safety | Activex Filtering is available and users can turn ActiveX Filtering on or off.
