Symptoms

When you install Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, the Microsoft Windows 2000 SMTP domains that were created before the Exchange 2000 installation are removed.

Cause

Exchange 2000 replaces the Windows 2000 SMTP domains with the domain name of the Exchange 2000 organization.

Workaround

You must manually re-create any SMTP domains that are no longer present (but which were present before the Exchange 2000 installation).
