Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in incorrectly displays Serbia and Montenegro as one country in Windows Server 2008 and in Windows Vista

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

In Windows Server 2008 and in Windows Vista, Serbia and Montenegro are displayed as Serbia and Montenegro (former) in the Country/region list of the Active Directory Users and Computers Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in. However, Serbia and Montenegro are now two separate countries.

Note The two countries must be listed separately to comply with ISO-3166.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following hotfix package on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista.

Note You must install hotfix 2494297 before you install the following hotfix package.

After you install the following hotfix package, the user interfaces of the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC snap-in displays Serbia and Montenegro as separate countries. Additionally, the original selection "Serbia and Montenegro (former)" becomes a blank field. Therefore, you are required to select a new country ("Serbia" or "Montenegro").
