Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2, Microsoft BizTalk Server 2009 or Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010.
  • You use the Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)-based SAP adapter in Microsoft BizTalk Adapter Pack 2.0 or Microsoft BizTalk Adapter Pack 2010 to connect to an SAP system.
  • You configure a receive location of the SAP adapter to receive multiple grouped intermediate documents (IDOCs) from the SAP system.
    Notes
    • The multiple grouped IDOCs are not sorted.
    • The ReceiveIDocFormat binding property of the receive location is set to the String data type.
  • You use the BizTalk server to process the IDOCs.
In this scenario, the fields of the IDOCs are in an incorrect order after they are processed.

Cause

This issue occurs because the WCF-based SAP adapter does not sort the received strings in the IDOCs.

Resolution

After you apply the following hotfix, a new CollatedString setting is available for the ReceiveIDocFormat binding property. To resolve this issue, set the ReceiveIDocFormat binding property to CollatedString. When this setting is used, the WCF-SAP adapter sorts the multiple grouped IDOCs.
