Printer performance may be degraded when you print from PowerPoint 2007 presentations

Symptoms

When you print Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 presentations that contain images, the performance of your printer may be degraded. That is, you may have to wait an unusually long time for the presentation to print.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, apply the hotfix that is described in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

After you install the hotfix package, follow these steps to enable the hotfix:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Dword Value.
  4. Type DisableMaskingOnPrint, and then press ENTER.
  5. In the details pane, right-click DisableMaskingOnPrint, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
Note Any changes that you make to this registry key will also affect Office Excel 2007 and Office Word 2007.
