SFTLIST.EXE crashes during the post-configuration steps in the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 upgrade process

Symptoms

Following an upgrade to Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1), during the Post-Configuration tasks the client system may bluescreen and crash. The upgrade to Windows 7 SP1 completes successfully, however.

During shutdown, the following is logged:

The Application Virtualization Client FSI encountered an exception during shutdown. A minidump may have been generated.

An initial investigation of the dump shows the following:
