FIX: Transaction Integrator method returns "ConnectionUsage cannot be set to the input state" when you use persistent connections in Host Integration Server 2009

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

In the Microsoft Host Integration Server 2009 environment, a Transaction Integrator (TI) method that is called from a web service or from a WCF service may return an error message that resembles the following:
Microsoft.HostIntegration.TI.CustomTIException: The ConnectionUsage cannot be set to the input state from its current state. at Microsoft.HostIntegration.TI.ClientContext.set_ConnectionUsage(ConnectionTypes value) at Microsoft.Xml.Serialization.GeneratedAssembly.XmlSerializationReader1.Read17_ClientContext(Boolean isNullable, Boolean checkType) at Microsoft.Xml.Serialization.GeneratedAssembly.XmlSerializationReader1.Read22_vcbrc009() at Microsoft.Xml.Serialization.GeneratedAssembly.ArrayOfObjectSerializer8.Deserialize(XmlSerializationReader reader) at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer.Deserialize(XmlReader xmlReader, String encodingStyle, XmlDeserializationEvents events) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer.Deserialize(XmlReader xmlReader, String encodingStyle, XmlDeserializationEvents events) at System.Xml.Serialization.XmlSerializer.Deserialize(XmlReader xmlReader, String encodingStyle) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocol.ReadParameters() --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapServerProtocol.ReadParameters() at System.Web.Services.Protocols.WebServiceHandler.CoreProcessRequest()" String
This exception may occur if the TI application is using persistent connections. This exception may not occur if the TI method is only called one time. However, the exception does occur if the TI method is called multiple times.
