INTRODUCTION

This article describes platform hotfix resource files that you must install for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Service Pack 1 (SP1) before you install hotfixes with build number 32074 or a later build number.

Note: After you apply a hotfix with build number 32074 or a later build number to a Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1 installation, the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1 database must be converted before you can use it with this build number.

After you apply a hotfix with build number 32074 or a later build number to a Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1 installation, the following new Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 features will be available:

How to obtain the Microsoft Dynamics NAV hotfix or update files

After you request a Microsoft Dynamics NAV hotfix, a hyperlink will be sent to you in an email message.


The email message will contain a hyperlink and a password. You can use the hyperlink to download the Microsoft Dynamics NAV hotfix or the update files. When you click the hyperlink, the File Download – Security Warning dialog box opens. Then, you are prompted to run, to save, or to cancel the download.


If you click Run, the files start the download and the extraction process. You must specify a folder for the new files, and then provide the password.


If you click Save, you must specify a path for saving the compressed file. When you open the file that you saved, you are prompted to specify a path for the files. Then, you must provide the password provided in the email message.


If you click Cancel, the download process stops.


How to install a Microsoft Dynamics NAV hotfix or an update file

The Microsoft Dynamics NAV platform hotfixes and updates are made available as single files. To install a Microsoft Dynamics NAV hotfix or an update, you must replace the existing Microsoft Dynamics NAV installation files with the hotfix or the update files. To do this, follow these steps.

Step 1: Locate the country folder for the installation in the hotfix files

In the hotfix files, locate the country folder that applies to your installation.

Step 2: Replace the files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Classic client installation

In the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Classic client installation, replace the following files by using the hotfix files.
File name
Fin.etx
Fin.stx
The Microsoft Dynamics NAV Classic Client is usually installed in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Classic
You must replace the files that are installed in the Classic client root folder and in the specific language folders in the installation directory.


Note Before you replace the files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Classic client installation, you must close the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Classic client.

To replace the files, follow these steps.

Note The following example references a German installation.
  1. Copy the fin.stx and the fin.etx files from the ENU folder in the Cside folder in the hotfix files to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Classic\ENU
  2. Copy the fin.stx and the fin.etx files from the DEU folder in the Cside folder in the hotfix files to the following folders:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Classic
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Classic\DEU

Step 3: Replace the files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV RoleTailored client installation

In the Microsoft Dynamics NAV RoleTailored client installation, replace the following files by using the hotfix files.

Step 4: Replace the files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server installation

In the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server installation, replace the following files by using the hotfix files.

To replace the files, follow these steps.

Note The following example references a German installation.

  1. Copy the Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.Language.resources.dll file from the de-DE folder in the Server folder in the hotfix files to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Service\de-DE
  2. Copy the nclcsrt.etx and nclcsrt.stx files from the ENU folder in the Server folder in the hotfix files to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Service\ENU
  3. Copy the nclcsrt.etx and nclcsrt.stx files from the DEU folder in the Server folder in the hotfix files to the following folders:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Service
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Service\DEU


After you replace the files in the Microsoft Dynamics Server installation, you must start the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server service.

Step 5: Replace the files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Application Server installation

If you have Microsoft Dynamics NAV Application Server installed, replace the following files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Application Server installation by using the hotfix files.

The Microsoft Dynamics NAV Application Server is usually installed in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Application Server


Note Before you replace the files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Application Server installation, you must stop the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Application Server service.

To replace the files, follow this step:
Copy the fin.etx and the fin.stx files from the ENU folder in the Cside folder in the hotfix files to the following folder:

Step 6: Replace the files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Outlook Add-in installation

In the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Outlook Add-in installation, replace the following files by using the hotfix files.

The Microsoft Dynamics NAV Outlook Add-in is usually installed in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\OutlookAddin
To replace the files, follow this step:
Copy the fin.etx and the fin.stx files from the ENU folder in the Cside folder in the hotfix files to the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\OutlookAddin

Step 7: Replace the files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Database Server installation

If you have Microsoft Dynamics NAV Database Server installed, replace the following files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Database Server installation by using the hotfix files.

The Microsoft Dynamics NAV Database Server is usually installed in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\Database Server


Note Before you replace the files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Database Server installation, you must stop the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Database Server service.

To replace the files, follow this step:

If you have the Microsoft Dynamics NAV ODBC driver installed, replace the following files in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV ODBC driver installation.

The Microsoft Dynamics NAV ODBC driver is usually installed in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\ODBC
To replace the files, follow this step:
Copy the fin.etx and the fin.stx files from the ENU folder in the Cside folder in the hotfix files to the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\60\ODBC

Prerequisites

You must have Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Service Pack 1 installed to apply this hotfix.
